It is so enjoyable to get a peek into the past by looking at old photos.

CHILDHOOD DOLL PHOTOS - PAGE FIFTEEN

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Which one is Shirley Temple, they both have curls?...  This is pretty little Ora sitting on a stool with her lovely Shirley Temple doll in 1938.  I'm sure Ora spent many happy hours singing, "On the good ship Lollipop," with her doll Shirley.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Here is another photo taken of Ora around the same time, with an unidentified baby doll sitting in a beautiful wicker dolly carriage.

Linda (taller girl in back holding a brunette Chatty Cathy) poses with her brother and a few children of US military servicemen stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1962.   The Chatty Baby held by the girl in the pink skirt is actually Linda's Canadian Chatty Baby doll.  Photo is not clear enough to show the "pinwheel" eyes that came on the Canadian dolls.  The little girl in the blue dress hugs an unknown baby doll.

Nite-nite, Loretta, sleep tight. When you can't decide who to take to bed with you, just take them all!

Loretta poses in 1962 with her favorite friends.  She still has the rubber doll in the back, but no longer has the soft baby in the front.  It looks like an M.A. Huggums or Kitten doll.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Loretta, now age 4,  hugs her new best friend; a lovely Canadian Chatty Cathy which she received on Christmas Eve 1964, and still has today!  I'm sure by the joy on  Loretta's face, that she most likely had a hard time falling asleep that night; rather wanting to play with her new friend!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Later that Christmas Eve '64, Loretta poses with Chatty Cathy and her sister, Leona, who proudly displays her new Chatty Baby.  These are Canadian Chatty dolls.  They are very sought after today on the secondary market! Also note the beautiful doll house they received.  What lucky little girls they were!  By the expressions on their faces, you can tell they were tickled pink!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Are these girls with dolls or dolls with girls?  Actually they are all dolls! These cousins couldn't be happier as each poses with a darling American Character Butterball doll.  Looks like there are even a couple of fashion dolls in the mix.  The dolls are long gone, but not the happy memories!  Thanks to Phyllis for sharing this photo of her darling daughters and nieces.

Perhaps you have a treasured photo of yourself, or a loved one, with a childhood doll,  that you would like to include on this page.  It could even be a photo of an unidentified child that you stumbled across in an antique mall, like some that I've included.  What is important is that there be a doll in the shot and it be somewhat vintage.   If you have a CLEAR photo that you would like to add to the page, email me to get instructions on sending it.
